We have a rule when we go away: the kids can bring whatever they want to play with or do, as long as it fits into ONE bag. This works well for us....
Here is a list of 10 things you could bring away on holidays to help your poppets have a good time....
- Favourite teddy
- Favourite blanket & pillow
- Books
- Toys (cars, marbles, My Little Ponies, dolls etc)
- Games (Snap, board games, marble games, etc)
- Ball & Frisbee
- Bubbles (really fun if staying up high!)
- Bikes &/or scooters (including helmets)
- Walking Shoes
- A Special New Thing*
* I like to have something special to give to my kids for the trip. This gives them something new to play with and also adds to the fun of holidays. We used to get a Smurf when we travelled...

When I was little, we had day trips to see my grandparents and the part that was exciting and anticipated was getting icecream on the way home and sliding down the aeroplane slide.
Love the 'one bag' idea. I will have to file that away for future reference!
We always got special cereal on holidays (Cocopops, Rice Bubbles etc)
I did radio talkback on this once; a lady rang in to say she used a bag of Freddos to get her kids through long road trips. Anytime a child misbehaved, out the window went one Freddo. The kids got to eat any Freddos that were still left in the bag at the conclusion of the trip. Environmentally friendly? Not exactly. Effective? Heck yes!

Lace, my kids always choose Nutri-grain.... They insist that they have to have that whenever it is holidays. Cute to have some traditions.
