Cool Find: Country Road Cardigan

I don't know if this happens to you, but it surely happens to me, (and also to Mr Cool because I told him about it) you buy a new item of clothing and within few days you wonder what you wore before you bought the new item? Like my trusty silver Converse Sneakers

This year's 'Couldn't Live Without Item for 2011' is my Country Road Cardigan.

Isn't it just lovely? It is the softest grey marle wool and is just so toasty warm. When I wear it I feel all preppie and well 'turned out'. It goes with black, grey, white and some of my bright shirts I had in my 'Before Baby Winter Box'. It is a classic style that I think will always be 'in' even if cardigans aren't technically 'in'. I love wearing it with scarves and have worn it with my denim skirt and with trousers, and of course, it goes with jeans (EVERYTHING goes with jeans if you are a stay at home mum!).

Go back to the top and adore my knitwear again....

*Whispering* Do you want to know how much I paid for this quality item of knitwear?  I shall tell you...

$20.  Yep.  Gotta love DFO having a Sale and then a one day 50% off sale.

But, I really love that it is a quality item that is made from really lovely wool and is going to be a classic in my wardrobe for many years to come.

While snaffling up my cardigan, I also bought a blue knotted scarf. It is cool, a bit different and was RRP of $69.99 - I got it for $9.95.  Mr Cool got himself some jeans and long sleeve shirts and.... something else... for ... next to nothing... Pffft - I don't remember what he paid, whose blog is this anyways?!

Moral of this tale:
Quality is not out of reach, you just need to actually walk into the stores and see what is on offer.

Have you snaffled up some good bargains lately?

The uncoolest thing to say, "I have NOTHING to wear!"

First things first, when you find yourself in the position when you have NOTHING to wear, here is the emergency list of what I would suggest you get ...

1) Get yourself a cute t-shirt
2) Get a skirt - either denim or black
3) Get some sparkly shoes
4) Get a cute cardigan or shrug for mid-season coverage

This at least buys you some time to get other things to add to wardrobe....

However, can I challenge you to actually check what you already have?

Check if you have the following hanging in your closet:

- a really nice cardigan or knit that goes with jeans or a cute skirt?
- a great jacket - like a trench or something that could be retro with some new buttons or a brooch?
- some groovy scarves you have had scrunched up in the back of that drawer that holds your knee high stockings?
- a crisp white or black shirt that can be ironed into pristine condition for a change from t-shirts?
- some cool pairs of jeans? They can be wide leg, straight leg, skinny leg - just make sure that they fit well and accentuate your good bits... Finding good jeans is H.A.R.D. (esp on a tight budget or with a big bottom, or in my case - both of these things....)

I hope you find some treasures lurking in your wardrobes that can add some nice features for this season's look....
